HAR → cURL Converter
Paste HAR JSON or upload a .har file, pick one or more requests, and get ready-to-run
curl commands. Sensitive headers (Authorization, Cookie, and similar) are redacted by default.
Everything runs in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.
HAR to cURL controls
How it works
HAR (HTTP Archive) files are JSON exports of browser network activity. Paste HAR JSON or upload a
.har file, then Parse to list requests. Select one or more entries and convert them
into curl command lines you can run in a terminal.
By default, sensitive headers such as Authorization and Cookie are replaced with
REDACTED in the output so you are less likely to paste secrets into chats or tickets.
Uncheck redaction only when you intentionally need the raw values locally.
Parsing never uploads the HAR to Formattly — conversion stays in your browser.
When to use this tool
- Reproducing a failing API call from Chrome/Firefox/Edge DevTools outside the browser
- Turning a captured request into a shareable cURL (with redaction on) for support threads
- Batch-converting several HAR entries while debugging a multi-step flow
- Teaching or documenting HTTP examples from a real capture
Tips
- In Chrome: Network tab → right-click → Save all as HAR with content
- Keep redaction enabled when sharing output; HARs often contain session cookies
- Use multi-select (Ctrl/Cmd-click) to convert several related requests at once
Frequently asked questions
What is a HAR file?
HAR (HTTP Archive) is a JSON format that records HTTP requests and responses from a browser session. Developers export HAR from DevTools to debug network calls, share repros, or convert traffic into scripts such as cURL.
Does my HAR leave my browser?
No. Parsing and conversion run entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Your HAR is not uploaded to a server. Redact sensitive headers is on by default so Authorization and Cookie values are replaced with REDACTED in the cURL output.
How do I export a HAR from Chrome DevTools?
Open DevTools (F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I), go to the Network tab, reload or reproduce the requests, then right-click in the request list and choose Save all as HAR with content. You can paste that JSON here or upload the .har file.
Is this HAR to cURL converter free?
Yes. The Formattly HAR to cURL converter is free to use with no signup required.
Why are some headers shown as REDACTED?
Redaction is enabled by default to reduce accidental leakage of Authorization, Cookie, and similar headers when you copy cURL into tickets or chat. Turn the option off only if you need the original values on your own machine.
